About Alexandre Carrier & Xela Expeditions
Alexandre Carrier, the founder and owner of Xela Expeditions, has spent his life immersed in the water. Starting at the age of 4, Alexandre has dedicated himself to freediving and, over the past decade, has focused exclusively on working with sharks. With over 8,000 dives—each, including 300 night dives—Alexandre’s expertise is unparalleled. As a Molchanov freediving instructor and USCG-approved captain, he has trained countless individuals in the shark industry.
Alexandre’s work has led him to collaborate with some of the world’s leading media platforms, including Discovery Channel, Shark Week, National Geographic, BBC, TV Monaco, CNN, and WPTV News. His film work includes winning The Inertia Film and Photo Challenge, and he has even served as UFC CEO Dana White's underwater bodyguard during a shark film shoot for Dana’s YouTube channel. Notable clients such as UFC fighter Tabatha Ricci and comedian Tig Notaro have experienced the thrill of diving with sharks under his guidance.
Currently, Alexandre is working on several exciting projects, including a film on great white sharks in Cape Cod, produced by TV Monaco, and a personal passion project focused on hammerhead sharks. Whether guiding clients on daily shark encounters or collaborating on film projects, Alexandre is dedicated to sharing the wonder of sharks with the world.

The Boat. Welcome aboard “Ghost Drifter” a 31 foot Panga specifically designed from the ground up over the course of two years for approaching shy aquatic predators and other marine life. Every detail in the design of this this boat helps to provide a non intrusive, safe and animal friendly approach to shark diving. The boat was designed to be safe, eco-friendly and stealthy. This last feature is key to approach large but shy pelagic species. She drifts like a dream and her footprint on the water is minimal. XELA Expeditions is committed to lowering the impact on the ocean and has a 0 tolerance policy aboard for any boat fluids leaking into the ocean. Ghost Drifters low profile footprint on the surface provides the best fuel economy of any boat her size greatly reducing carbon emissions on long missions.
